The University of Florida Art in State Buildings Program is pleased to announce its latest Call to Artists for UF 269 Biomedical Sciences Building! The Biomedical Sciences Building (BMSB) will house and integrate biomedical sci¬ences and biomedical engineering researchers within a 160,000 gross square feet facility. The physical and cultural integration of Biomedical Sciences and Biomedi¬cal Engineering within the BMSB will provide synergistic and collaborative environ¬ments that would establish UF as a leader in interdisciplinary biomedical science and engineering translational research with human therapeutic intervention as the ultimate goal. The inclusion of a state of the art Animal Care Facility in the same building will add to the synergy and allow UF researchers housed in the BMSB and across campus access to the finest biomedical research infrastructure in the world. The budget for this project is $99,000; the committee has identified 8 sites for artwork inside and outside of the building and is interested in commissioning site-specific artwork for one or more of these locations. The University of Florida Art in State Buildings Program is pleased to announce its latest Call to Artists for UF 155 Levin College of Law Advocacy Center! Like many of its peer institutions, the University of Florida (UF) Levin College of Law utilizes a full-scale courtroom to provide students with the means for practicing trial and appellate legal presentation and advocacy skills. The ceremonial center of every law school is its courtroom, but the current facility is small, dark, outdated, and absent modern technology, so a new facility is being constructed in 2008. With a modest budget of $25,000 for artwork, submissions should be targeted for the new build¬ing’s interior in the locations illustrated in our Call to Artists. The committee is interested in purchasing pre-existing artwork within our budget. The committee will review work that is appropriate to the context of the site, the function of the building, and the mission of the Art in State Buildings Program.
