THE CENTER FOR DOCUMENTARY STUDIES/HONICKMAN FIRST BOOK PRIZE IN PHOTOGRAPHY is a biennial prize offering $3,000 in grant money, a solo exhibit at the Center for Documentary Studies, and most importantly, the publication of a book of photography, published by Duke University Press in association with CDS Books.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces a call for entries with the theme “Figurative” for a juried art competition for the month of May 2012. The gallery would like for all 2D artists (including photography) to send us your best interpretation of the theme “Figurative” by depicting the human form or human features. “Figurative” is considered to be figures, forms and faces for inclusion into the gallery’s June 2012 online Group Art Exhibition. We will accept art on this subject that is either representational or abstract, but please, do not submit any erotic art.

Best 2-D and 3-D win the opportunity of a combined 2 person exhibition.Entry fee: $40/2 works. Description: Deadline: May 26, 2012. A call for submission of original works of art for “Best of the USA,” including, but not limited to painting, sculpture, glasswork, ceramics, drawing, and assemblage. Artists at least 18 years of age from within the United States are eligible to participate in the juried competition. The Best of the Show in wall and sculpture categories will receive a two person show in our Studio Gallery. The gallery will take a 40% commission on artwork we sell. All art must be available for sale for the duration of the exhibition.

This is our second art contest focused on finding the best designs for the mobile devices in our world. As always, here at SolSketch, we see mobile devices as blank canvases just waiting for artwork. The goal of SolSketch as a company is to separate the underlying products in our lives from the artwork they present, effectively turning the increasingly necessary elements of our lives into opportunities for creativity and expression. More so than ever, as we see devices dominating our daily lives, we think there is an opportunity to express ourselves like never before.Curious what we’re looking for? There’s no set theme or goal, we just look for images that will look great on a wide range of devices. Just submit your best botanical art for this future exhibition.All international artists, professional and amateur and all art mediums will be considered from photography, sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc.If it can be hung on the walls, we will consider it.Those accepted artists will be asked to be a part of a live collective show in the future months.
