Reimagine the Ketubah for profit

ONGOING

Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Crafts, Digital Media, Illustration, Mixed media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Other

Ketuv is an organization established to re-imagine the traditional ketubah (a Jewish marriage contract, signed at the wedding to unite a couple by law) and establish a new market for contemporary artists to create revenue. Ketuv is equally committed to providing couples with original fine-art ketubahs via editions and custom made works, as to promoting the work of emerging and established artists. Ketuv encourages couples to consider their ketubah the first piece in their art collection together. Artists can earn between $300-$7,500 depending on the work created and its sales. Ketuv is responsible for the printing, text, marketing and sales of all ketubahs. Eligibility: Fine artists working in any medium are welcome to apply. We are looking for innovative artists, with dynamic art careers outside of the commercial and the Judaica spheres. Artists do NOT need to be Jewish to apply. Process: Interested artists should submit a short bio or CV along with a website.

Woman as Photographer; Picturing Life as a Woman

Published by TheArtList.com under Photo Contests

DEADLINE JANUARY 24, 2011 – $12000 in Awards

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

Women have been actively involved with photography since the medium’s inception in 1839. The barriers to their participation were lower than in the other arts, and recognition often came faster. Yet women and their photographs have not been as visible as they should have been in view of their numbers and past influence. Only in fairly recent exhibitions and critical writings have women’s work in photography received due consideration. This International Call for Entry invites women from around the world to submit photographs that demonstrate a smart, critical take on women with cameras in this day of a more open and subtle notion of gendered identity.Submissions are only limited by your imagination and may cover a broad range of challenging, personal, emotional, and political issues facing women today. Their work-life, home, family, friends, relationships, life partners, homosexual, hetrosexual, politics, equal rights, stereotypes, causes, roles and wishes.Woman as Photographer is juried by Christina Chang, Assistant Curator at the Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis.
