Embracing Our Differences

Embracing Our Differences invites artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students to participate in its 5th annual visual art exhibit celebrating diversity. National and international submissions are encouraged. 39 artists will be selected for the exhibit. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout the month of April 2008 at Island Park along Sarasota’s beautiful bayfront. The exhibit will also be displayed throughout the month of May 2008 in North Port, Florida. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than 400,000 visitors. The exhibit will contain 39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high) images of the selected artworks. Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme “Embracing Our Differences”. The art-work will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size – 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines. Final selections will be made by a 3-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals. International Artistic Contest

To celebrate its 25th anniversary and show its commitment to nurturing young talent, Imaje, a French-based international company located in France, organizes a free entry art contest. The contest is open to both professional and non-professional artists as well as art students 18 and older from around the world with an art degree or with a strong artistic interest and background. Entrants may submit as many works as they like but will have to fill out a separate application form for every art piece. Common Ground Collection 2008

The artists selected for the Common Ground Collection 2008 of limited edition museum quality prints will be featured in a media relations campaign aimed at print, broadcast and online media, as well as included in our international touring exhibition to sites in China, North America and Europe. A portion of all revenues will be donated to support selected environmental projects around the world. There are NO fees for submissions. Molded Earth – Call for Entries

The Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery is pleased to present Molded Earth, a media specific juried exhibition aimed at exploring current trends in both functional and non-functional contemporary ceramics. This exhibition is open to all artists both nationally and internationally. Juror: We are fortunate to have contemporary ceramics expert and collector Judith Weisman as our curator. Ms. Weisman has had several articles published that address her expertise in the field of contemporary crafts in magazines such as American Style and Better Homes and Gardens. Her professional affiliations include serving as a consultant for the British Craft Council, on the Board of Trustees for the American Craft Council and the James Renwick Alliance Board. She has been a juror for many exhibitions to include most recently the Smithsonian Crafts Show and the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival. Show dates: December 13, 2007 – January 20, 2008.Deadline: Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Reception and Gallery Talk: Thursday, December 13, 6-8pm. Juror will review work via digital image only. Public Art Request for Qualifications

Budget: $25,000. A century old Masonic Temple is being converted to a state-of-the-art spa in the heart of Montclair, NJ’s central business district, 12 miles west of New York City. BangZ Salon and Wellness Spa, in cooperation with the Montclair Arts Council, is commissioning artworks which will be affixed to the original double doors on the front of the building at its main entrance. Materials may include, but are not limited to, copper, bronze, other metals, wood, glass and paint. Materials should be durable, easily maintainable and provide necessary structural integrity. “We the People”: An Artist’s Response

Albertus Magnus College invites artists to submit postcard size artworks that explore the impact of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights on the lives of people living in the United States today. Postcards can engage topics such as: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, separation of church and state, and the right to bear arms. The exhibition will be in Rosary Hall, on the campus of Albertus Magnus College, with an opening reception on September 10, 2007 at 4:00 pm.
