Get Out of Jail Free will explore themes related to imprisonment as a metaphor for illness, and for other issues of struggle, injustice and power relationships in political, social, environmental and personal arenas. The show will consist of numerous, perhaps hundreds of small works. Open to all 2D and 3D media. Visual artists who work in digital media, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed-media, etc. are encouraged to submit work. Collaborations, simple drawings, collages, or texts from children, nonartists, writers, poets, prisoners, family and friends are also welcomed. The size limitation is 8 x 11″. Visual Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage artists with life-threatening illnesses to continue their creative work. For the first time, work by Visual Aid artists, and artists & friends from the larger community will be included together in a Visual Aid exhibition.
