Get Out of Jail Free

Get Out of Jail Free will explore themes related to imprisonment as a metaphor for illness, and for other issues of struggle, injustice and power relationships in political, social, environmental and personal arenas. The show will consist of numerous, perhaps hundreds of small works. Open to all 2D and 3D media. Visual artists who work in digital media, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed-media, etc. are encouraged to submit work. Collaborations, simple drawings, collages, or texts from children, nonartists, writers, poets, prisoners, family and friends are also welcomed. The size limitation is 8 x 11″. If you plan to participate, please email us asap at staff@visualaid.org with your name, address, email address and telephone number. This will give us a better idea of the number of artworks/participants. Delivery options: Drop off at Visual Aid 27-29. Or send by mail to arrive by March 29 to Visual Aid, 116 New Montgomery St., Ste. 640, San Francisco, CA 94105. Or email a jpeg (limit one, 2 megabyte jpeg -please don’t overload us. Visual Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage artists with life-threatening illnesses to continue their creative work. For the first time, work by Visual Aid artists, and artists & friends from the larger community will be included together in a Visual Aid exhibition. 35 FINE ART proudly announces our first annual competition, ‘Hello, Chelsea! 2007,’ to discover, recognize and honor excellence in the global visual arts. Artist Auditions II — National Call For Artists

This is an unconventional call for artists. Nine semi-finalists will participate in a group exhibition in Portland, Oregon in July 2007. Two artists will be awarded a two-person exhibit in a well-established gallery in Portland, Oregon in October 2007. Purchase prizes will be awarded. Extended gallery representation will be considered for select artists. This is not your average call for artists. Submitting work is the first gesture in a series of actions within a multi-phased juried process. Jurors will review your work and may invite you to participate in a three-part round of juried interplay. These three rounds will involve spontaneous making. For international submissions and those artists living outside of the Pacific Northwest, we will be initiating a series of mail art correspondences as a part of the process. To submit work for initial consideration – please send a CD or DVD with up to 25 images to : Artist Auditions, P.O. Box 14519, Portland, OR 97293. If you are a performance or video artist – please include up to 7 minutes of footage on DVD. Please be certain your CD or DVD is Mac compatible. Include a check or money order for $25 made out to “Boss Works” as your submission fee. There will be no additional fees for any portion of the process. All media will be considered. There are no themes or size restrictions. Open to all artists, emerging, professional, student, etc. Include a SASE that will fit your materials, if you would like them returned. Digital Art Competition

The Beecher Center for Art and Technology @ The Butler Institute of American Art announces the 6th Annual Digital Art Juried Competition. Now in it’s 6th year, this competition invites digital and computer generated art entries from across the nation. The entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts based on content, creativity, design, narrative, artistic and aesthetic merits. Digital and Computer Generated Art. Artists may submit up to 5 images @ $10.00 per image (students pay $5.00 per image). Images are due by Wednesday, March 7, 2007. (Images will not be returned without a SASE.)
