The Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects will be celebrating the AIA’s 150th Anniversary through a juried exhibition titled, Sense of Place. This exhibition is open to all artists nationally and internationally. This would be an all media exhibition that embraces and expresses the notion of community, environment and our place in it from the perspective of artists and architects. Juror: Catherine Armour, former recipient of the AIA New York Design Award, currently serves as Chair of Design overseeing the Design Departments to include, Digital Media, Graphic Design, and Interior Design at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington,DC. An exciting new competition hosted by The Carmel Art Festival, May 17-20, 2007. CAF seeks sculptors to participate in the 2007 “Sculpture in the Park”. This juried exhibition and competition welcomes emerging and mid-career artist’s work to be placed in Devendorf Park, Carmel. Sculptors are invited to submit slides(or photos) of work suitable for outdoor showing that has been completed in the last two years. Artists all need be residents of California. This year’s exhibition will be juried by a panel of prominent artists and art professionals including: Sculptor Albert Paley, Peter Frank Senior Curator, Riverside Art Museum, art critic for Angeleno magazine and LA Weekly and Monterey Sculpture Center owner and sculptor Larry Fischer. Much of exhibition is developed, organized and implemented by Interns from Cal State University Monterey Bay and Monterey Peninsula College. CSUMB Art Departments. Prizes and substantial awards will be sponsored by Richard MacDonald Studios, Douglas and Sturgess (ARTSTUF), well known sculpture supplier and the Monterey Sculpture Center providing an “Award of Merit”.
