Clash of the Artists – Online Competition

In celebration of their freshly launched community website, not-for-profit arts organization, Art For Progress, is proud to mark a year of spectacular events by hosting their first annual multi-disciplinary open arts competition. Artists will enter submissions in the categories of visual arts, live music, fashion design, DJs, and short film. People visiting the Art For Progress website, will be able to vote for finalists in all categories, with the competition culminating in a multi-day showcase featuring the works of all finalists as chosen by the public- truly a “Clash of the Artists!” Interested artists should note that online submissions in the categories of visual arts, live music, fashion design, DJs, and short film will be accepted at www.artforprogress.org from November 15th through January 7th. There is a $20 application and processing fee. Online voting for the finalists will commence on January 15th and end on February 15th. Proceeds from the event will help continue funding for the Arts For Progress Arts Education program helping children in less fortunate neighborhoods experience the wonder of the arts. Embracing Our Differences – Call to Artists

Embracing Our Differences, scheduled for the entire month of April, 2007, at Island Park along Sarasota’s bayfront, is an outdoor juried art exhibition consisting of 39 works of art. Since 2004, more than 250,000 visitors have viewed the exhibit. The exhibit is intended to demonstrate that:diversity enriches our lives, respect for differences in our thoughts and beliefs elevates the human experience, active rejection of prejudice and hatred enhances our own freedom. Artists are asked to submit their interpretation of the theme Embracing Our Differences no later than December 31, 2006 and are encouraged to collaborate with artists in other disciplines. For example, a photographer might work with a dancer or a painter might work with a poet. Collaboration epitomizes the theme of Embracing Our Differences. Who can participate? Artist, photographers, teachers, students — everyone can participate. What are the criteria? Final selection will be chosen based primarily on the visual impact of the image and reflection of the theme embracing our differences. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size — 16 feet wide by 11 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines.How is artwork submitted? Projekt30’s – JANUARY JURIED EXHIBITION

RayMar’s Second Annual Fine Art Competition

A year long painting competition with $26,500 in prizes! First prize is $10,000! Monthly contest deadlines are the 31st of each month until July 31st 2007. There is a one-time $25 registration fee for the entire competition, Each submission is $10.00. All paintings must be on RayMar Panels. Paintings must be oil or acrylic. Only Digital submissions are permitted. No size limitation. No restriction on subject matter. No limit to the number of paintings submitted in any month or during the year long competition. The same painting can be submitted in different months unless it has already been selected as a finalist. Paintings should be unsigned to avoid name recognition. A juror will select 12 finalists from the paintings submitted that month and provide a critique for each painting. The twelve paintings and critiques selected each month will be displayed on the Raymar Art competition website. They will be posted on the 15th of the following month. 144 finalists will be selected during the 12-month competition. 12 winners will be selected in October 2007.
