The expressiveness of the abstract image continues to push artists to new levels of creativity, regardless of media. Abstract art doesn’t try to look like something. It conveys a direct emotion or sensation without figurative interference. Colour, line, form, texture, materials and support are the “subjects” of the abstract painting. It is what it is and not an interpretation of something else. “Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colours, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.”– Wassily Kandinsky.Artists who enter this Competition will recieve visibility and be included in the on-line ABSTRACTION 2006 Exhibition.
