This exhibition explores the dichotomy of light and dark, hope and despair. Within what seems to be the final thrust of night, the daylight awaits. When the darkness approaches, the light is not apparent to the eye of the mind. Yet, through our powers of observation and knowledge, wisdom, and the rites of survival common to all peoples, hope is born of despair. And many species of life have survived for millions of years where you would least expect it to. We are examining this on many levels – biological, psychological, spiritually, and aesthetically. The innate beauty of the world is found in understanding this seemingly contradictory pattern of existence, and so perpetuates the flowering of our evolution. Caladan Gallery, emphasizing the timely and relevant, and inviting more variety of art and issues, exhibits promising up-and-coming artists as well as those who are more well known. The exhibition will be advertised in numerous listings and we update press releases monthly. We encourage dialogue and contact between viewers and artists! Artists working in all media except video are eligible. Deadline is June 25, 2006. One or more artists will be awarded a solo exhibition.
