Agora Gallery of New York City is pleased to announce its 21st International Juried Competition. The competition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in all media with the exception of video art, film and interactive art. Enter or download the prospectus at www.Agora-Gallery.com/2006. Juror: Manon Slome, chief curator of the Chelsea Art Museum, New York. Manon Slome is an independent curator and art consultant in New York. During her six year tenure at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, she curated Africa: The Art of a Continent and China: 5000 Years. She also curated The Art of the Motorcycle at the Guggenheim’s space in Bilbao, Spain. Formerly the Helena Rubinstein Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Manon has produced numerous collections and independent gallery shows in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prizes:Exhibition- 15-20 Artists will participate in a collective exhibition at Agora Gallery 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York City, Exhibition – July 21st to August 10th, 2006, Artist Reception – July 27th, 2006, $1000 in prizes – will be awarded to three artists ($500, $300 & $200.), Internet Promotion – will be awarded to six (6) artists to be placed on www.Art-Mine.com for a period of one year. Review by an art critic will be awarded to one (1) artist one-page review with color images in ArtisSpectrum magazine.Internet – images of the exhibited artwork will be placed on the Agora Gallery web site, www.Agora-Gallery.com, for one year. Competition – is open to all artists, all media, with the exception of video art, film and interactive art. Publicity – the exhibition will be advertised in art magazines and on the Internet. Sales – the visuals of the selected artwork will be included in the gallery’s portfolio collection for a period of one year and made available for presentation purposes. Commission – The commission structure is 70/30 (70% for the artist) of the list (selling) price as determined by the artist.Entry Fee – There is a $35 entry fee for the first 5 visuals and $5 for each additional visual. The competition fee is non-refundable and must be included with the submission.Visuals – 35mm slides – no glass/metal slides. Photographs not larger then 8 x 10 inches. Visuals are to be labeled with a dot indicating the upper right corner, artist name, artwork title, medium and dimensions in inches.Framing & Storage – the artists will follow Agora Gallery instructions regarding the exhibition, shipping and framing procedures.
